Weddings are expensive. The second you come up with the money to pay for a fabulous cake, you find you are short for the right napkins. You get those paid off and now you need money for wedding favors. Luckily that happens to be one of the areas that if you can be a little creative, you can save some money.
You don’t have to splurge on expensive favors for your guests, which if you aren’t careful can end up costing you thousands of dollars. But not to worry … I’ll help you come up with a solution that won’t break the break.
Idea #1 – Candle With Care
Anyone who has ever visited a dollar store knows you can get individually wrapped taper candles for next to nothing.
But a simple candle isn’t very personal. So you’ll also want to pick up some ribbon and card stock. You are going to take a simple candle, wrap it with a personalized ribbon and a sweet note.
The idea is that you are going to tie a simple bow around 1 (or two) of the candles. If you have a little more money to spend you can use the bigger candles that are just slightly more expensive. You should find that both styles will be available at almost any dollar store.
While that by itself would make a nice wedding favor for your guests, you’ll want to personalize them by printing up a nice note on folded card-stock, which you can get at any office supply store. You can print the name of you and your groom and the date of your wedding on the left and on the right some sweet and simple sentiment. Maybe something like …
When you see a falling star to night, make a wish, it will come true because I wished and I found you.
or maybe you would like ….
I wish dreams were like wishes, and wishes came true, cause in my dreams I’m always with you.
Idea #2 – Simply Sweet
Candy is another cheap wedding favor idea. You find a number of different ways to give out candy as an inexpensive wedding favor. One way to do this is to purchase a pretty fabric and some ribbon, cut the fabric into small squares, put a few small pieces of candy on each square and pull the corners together and tie with the ribbon. This is not only a very inexpensive wedding favor idea but it is also a very simple idea which can be assembled at the last minute. Another way to use candy as a wedding favor is to purchase small tins and fill them with the candy of your choice. You can purchase the candy in bulk to keep the price down and separate the candy into small portions for each guest. A final way to give candy as a wedding favor is to buy candy bars with personalized wrappers. The wrappers can include your name and wedding date and even a picture of the two of you. This can be very affordable especially if you are ordering in bulk and are only using one design for the wrappers.
Idea #3 – A shot of the Sweet Stuff
Another idea is to find some cost effective shot glasses or candle holders at the dollar store or a discount store. Fill it with your favorite candy, wrap it in a bow and attach a card with your names and the date of your wedding to make it more personal.
